Expectations
So often our expectations for how God works in our lives cause us to stumble, especially when these expectations are not met the way we think they should be. How can we learn to deal with these unfulfilled and often unrealistic expectations?
Using John the Baptist as an example of someone who had unfulfilled expectations of the coming Messiah we are able to see how it is not about having expectations of God, but that it is about having expectations that are accurately, purposely focused, based on who He is and what he has done.
“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12 NLT
Unfulfilled expectations can often make us think that God can’t, BUT HE CAN.
It’s ok to question and have why’s but don’t let them make you stumble. Be wise about your why’s, it is ok to not understand, but remember He died for you and His love for you will never stop! It’s not your will it’s His, it’s not your way it’s His way!
“Your whys are ok, but be wise about your whys.”
